Which religion is widespread in Germany?

Most of Germany's inhabitants are Christians (55 percent) and either belong to the Roman Catholic Church or are members of a Protestant state church. Islam is the third largest religion in Germany with a share of almost five percent. In addition, there are more than 70 other religious communities. More than 36 percent of the inhabitants are non-denominational.
